The First 27.7 has really nothing to compete with her, she comes laden with many fantastic new ideas to help get the best performance out of a 27-footer, whilst still remaining a fully fitted-out cruising yacht. Such a truly versatile craft, you'll think you own many different boats all at once.
She sports a powerful rig. Underneath is a planing hull from the design board of the genius from Groupe Finot, with no rating compromise, in the same spirit as their famous round the world racing machines. Wave-rider forward sections and a deep composite fin keel help to achieve extreme sailability.

HULL
The hull is single-skinned laminated GRP.
A structural inner moulding formed with
unidirectional materials is bonded and laminated to
the hull at various points. This plays an important
structural role as it takes and absorbs the stresses at
pressure points (shroud chain-plate tie rods, keel, rudder,
etc.) throughout the structure, spreading these and
thereby guaranteeing reduced strain on the hull.
The surface material of the inner moulding makes
cleaning easier and provides a better finish.
The hull gel coat is grey in colour.
There are tile-style footholds inside the saloon.
The deck is sandwich construction (glass fibre/balsa/
polyester resin) for an improved strength/weight ratio
and optimal insulation.
All working and circulation areas are treated with
'Picot' non-slip coating. An inner moulding is bonded
to the deck interior to improve its finish.
The areas beneath the deck gear (winches, tracks,
U-bolts, cleats) are strengthened at various points.
HULL / DECK JOINT
The hull deck joint is formed by an unvarnished teak
toerail, bonded and screwed in position. Its mechanised
assembly ensures that the hull deck joint is watertight,
and provides extra safety while moving about on deck.
KEEL
Keelboat version: cast iron keel with bulb.To improve
their durability, the keels are given an anti-corrosion
treatment and improved finish in the factory before
assembly using epoxy based coatings and paint.

PRESS RELEASE From Bénéteau
12 July 2007
FIRST: A CONTINUING SUCCESS STORY!
In 2008, the First's little sister will have Style!
In the tradition of the First 50, the new First 21.7S, 25.7S and 27.7 S will display a new hull livery, Weng laminated soles, Interior woodwork in lightwood (Alpi light oak like the First 50), and grey tinted windows (a colour that enhances interior light).
These evolutions will be developped on the whole First range that is to say for the First 31.7, 34.7, 36.7 and 40.7.
ON THE FIRST 21.7S
Changes to CE regulations have forced us to take another look at the 21.7 S validation.
New Boat models can no longer be declared unsinkable; the First 21.7S has the advantage of a great volume hidden foam buoyancy giving more available space in the forward and aft berths.
More space down below!
The First 21.7S, re-certified this year is a really 2008 new model. Without the regulations on the unsinkability, the First 21.7S benefit from more space inside.
* Reduction in space taken up by the chain locker
* Locker space under forward berth increased
* Additionnal space aft of the saloon settees (for stowage of mooring lines and fenders, or luggage!)
*New centreboard casing assembly.
New deck!
* New cockpit coaming design with more comfortable seats.
*Improved companionway hatch opening mechanism.
* Stowage space aft of cockpit accessible by deck hatch (option).
The First S Range and evolution on the bigger First will be exhibited in Southampton, La Rochelle and Barcelona Boatshows.
