The New Ovation 55

24 February 2009

The first Ovation 55 left the factory yesterday and is on the way down the East Coast to the Miami Boat Show.

The Ovation 55 shares certain components of the 52’s layout, specifically the aft part of the main salon, the VIP forward cabin, and the full width master cabin is very similar.

The key difference is that the 55 features a “galley down” arrangement and a prominent center line inside helm command station with the dinette located to port. Above the dinette, helm, and galley location is a large electric sunroof which lets bountiful light in. Aft of the helm station to starboard is a full wet bar with sink, Vitrifrigo fridge/freezer and counter space.

A key innovation in the 55 is that the helm console electrically retracts and folds down when not in use. By pivoting the helm chair, it forms a comfortable addition to the dinette. .

The 55 features a unique upper deck lounge/sundeck area, which makes for a unique compromise between your typical flybridge boat, and the stylistic but less practical typical European hard top express. Finished in natural teak, this area, combined with the teak lower cockpit and bathing platform, provide a truly “Mediterranean” feel on the outside.

The standard configuration features a full-beam aft cabin, and a VIP forward cabin, and two heads. We will also offer the boat with owner’s accommodation forward, and two aft cabins with a shared head. Both the 55 and 52 are also available with an aft crew cabin with separate entrance.
